Leaving Off Fasting During Ramadhaan Due To Exams
Question:

Are examinations an excuse which allows the eating during Ramadhaan? Since some Fataawaa have been spread amongst us allowing the eating during Ramadhaan for the one who fears distraction of his mind and a lack of focus/organization. And is it permissible to obey the parents in eating due to their having heard of these Fataawaa which allow the eating? We hope for a quick answer from your excellence due to the tribulation of these Fataawaa may Allaah reward you with good.
Answer:

School examinations and their like are not considered an excuse which would allow the eating during the day time in Ramadhaan. Nor is it permissible to obey the parents in eating for the purpose of examinations, due to there being no obedience to the creation in disobedience to The Creator. Rather obedience is in accordance to what is correct (legislated) as has come regarding it in the authentic Hadeeth from the Prophet (Sallallaahu Ďalaihi wa sallam).
