Praying the Witr prayer whilst on a journey

Question:
If a man were a traveller and was shortening his prayer, can he pray the Witr prayer or not?
Please give us a verdict concerning this

Answer:
Yes; he can pray the Witr prayer during the journey since the Prophet (Sallalaahu ?alaihi wa sallam) would pray the Witr prayer whilst on a journey as well as when he was resident. He would pray it on his riding beast no matter which direction it then turned. So he would pray the Witr prayer upon it, however; he would not pray the obligatory prayer upon it.
