This Contains Resemblance of the Rawaafidah (Shee’ah)

Question:

Shaykh Muhammad Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (May Allaah have mercy upon him) was asked about the ruling of removing the socks with every ablution out of precaution for ones purification.

Answer:

This is in opposition to the Sunnah and contains within it a resemblance of the Rawaafidh (Shee’ah) those who make it impermissible to wipe over the Khuffs (leather socks), the Prophet sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said to Mugheerah (bin Shu’bah may Allaah be pleased with him), when he (Mugheerah) intended to remove his Khuffs:

"دعهما فإنى أدخلتهما طاهرتين"

"Leave them, for indeed I put them on in a state of purification."

And he wiped over them sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
